Battersea Arts Centre: Contextual Background

Battersea Arts centre is an 80 roomed town hall that's been re-purposed as a venue for the creative arts. Unconventional in that it encourages unpolished early versions of shows to be performed and watched. The art centre allows those who put on the productions to choose any room they wish, from the large main rooms to the attic spaces. This utilises the full extensive heritage of the building and adds another dimension to the shows that are produced here.

The Battersea Arts Centre also openly inspires the community surrounding it to get creative, inspiring over 5000 young people and children to participate in workshops they organise yearly. In terms of theatre performance, there are at least 12 shows and projects put on each year.
